What is Tameside Activemark?
The Coalition Government have yet to release any official guidelines for PE & school sport, however in Tameside we have decided to continue with some existing recommendations to ensure that schools continue to offer a great sporting environment for their pupils.
Primary schools recently completed a school sport survey with questions included about curriculum PE, competition, leadership & out of school housr activity. Leading on from this, Tameside SSP have devised an accreditation scheme based on information put forward by schools.
The scheme sees points awarded to schools for offering 2 hours of curriculum PE to every pupil, achieving a certain percentage of participation in competition, offering leadership opportunities and providing OSHL clubs & activities.
14 primary schools in the NCA SSP have so far achieved Activemark 2011, and will be awarded their certificate, logo and award soon. 1 of these schools achieved maximum points under the scheme- Our Ladys of Mount Carmel RC Primary School and will now be our Champion school for sport.
