PRIMARY SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY at ECH

As usual the success of this event depended on willing volunteers from the club , efficiently organised by Saul Gallagher whose children having grown up and gone to uni leaving Saul to pack 230  goodie bags on his own only to realise he had put the wrong certificate in some so start again .Such is the lot of amateur sports organisers, some of you will feel deeply for him.Perseverance.Committment.In abundance in sportspeople.

The runners who entered varied in experience and kit. Some schools looked very organised in matching kit even though some were Football kits whilst some pupils ran in coats which came off  before the end. Those staff who were on the ball had done an appropriate warm up and instructions to 'take it steady its a long way' were in abundance.Applause was generous and some reserved for the tail enders who did well to finish. The spectators behaviour exemplary. The leaders showed competence already;befitting of a club who had spawned this years University and National Junior Cross Country winner.Where will these pupils end up in their sporting careers ? Lets hope they are still there at 20 but not leave to hope their early preparation in our hands.

Fantastic well done to all schools and their pupils who entered.
