Primary Grand Prix Cross Country

The final Primary cross country event took place on a chiily Saturday morning at East Cheshire Harriers AC track at Richmond Street,ASHTON.

The variety of running attire on display suggested a wide spectrum of experience and aspiration.First timers sometimes wore coats or fleeces and had to dig deep to finish the course and all credit to them for that. The easier stride of the more experienced suggested they are already putting some time in at this running club, training at school or are maybe games players on a morning off.

Whatever the level, these are the skill hungry years and running should be over fairly short distances as endurance does not develop until later. Its the first toe in the water and possibly an introduction to a running club where things should not be too seriuos just yet;theres plenty of time to go for these youngsters, more important to be still there when you are in sixth form.

The Athletic club showed off its skills as many club members were on hand to assist Blake Ellis,Athletics Development Officer,in the very good organisation of this race.Parents could see this is a busy and well organised club from the first class way the course had been prepared and marshalled to the presentation at the end.If you didnt try it theres always next year.
