PE Development

Tameside School Sports Partnership (TSSP) has been established in the borough since 2003. It is an organisation that co-ordinates and supports a network of teachers & coaches from Primary, secondary, special schools and 6th form colleges. Its role is to help raise standards in Physical Education and offer guidance to schools to help achieve High Quality PE, offer inclusive school sport opportunities and encourage health initiatives for all children and young people within the borough.

Led by Partnership Development Manager -Emma Toone, (based at Great Academy Ashton), and School Games Organiser - Geoff Oldfield (based at Rayner Stephens High School), TSSP is mainly Government Funded (DofH, DCMS & DfE) and as part of this role, delivers the School Games strategy. This strategy aims to ensure that all schools offer all pupils COMPETITION, making it INCLUSIVE, with LEADERSHIP opportunities and with further COMMUNITY pathways highlighted, allowing every child to achieve success and excel.

TSSP is also funded by primary schools who have invested in PE development via the Sport Premium funding allocated to every primary school by the Government as part of the Olympic & Paralympic legacy. These schools will be given further opportunity and support to develop their PE curriculum, pupil assessment & progression, whole school plans and achieve awards.
